Where should I position my skip?

Depending on the reason you have the skip will dictate where best to place it. But for the purpose of delivery, the skip should be placed in a location that is readily accessible for a skip lorry (minimum of 3 metres clearance width) and enough space for the skip itself.

What can I put in a skip?

Things that can go into a skip include anything that is not a hazardous material or item:

• - Domestic/Garden Waste
• - Sofas and Furniture
• - Carpet
• - Non-electrical fixtures and fittings
• - Metal
• - Wood
• - Tiles and ceramics
• - Empty tins
• - Cardboard
• - Rubble/Soil*
• - Bricks

* Only available in skips up to 8 yards

What can’t I put in a skip?

Things that cannot go into a skip include any hazardous items that could cause harm:

• - Electrical equipment/appliances
• - Fluorescent tubing
• - Batteries
• - Asbestos
• - Tyres
• - Paint/Tins filled with paint
• - Medical Waste
• - Gas cylinders
• - Solvents/Glue
• - Oil/Petrol/Diesel

Do I need a road permit?

If your skip is placed on private land you do not require a permit

If the skip is going to be placed on a public highway a road permit will be required. We can arrange this for you, however there may be further charges for this.

How can I reserve a space on a public highway for my skip?

Creativity would be our best advice....Park a car where you would like to put the skip, as long as parking is legal at that spot
